Wreck it Ralph: Movie Review

“Wreck it Ralph”

By Annie

In a world of gaming and fun, there is a “bad guy” named Ralph. He was tired of watching Felix getting golden medals, eating cake and having parties while he has been left out in a dump. So he went out of his game to do something about it.

“Wreck it Ralph” is produced from Walt Disney Animation Studio and it was released by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie was released at October 29, 2012. This movie was directed by Rich Moore. John C. Reilly is starring as Ralph, Sarah Silverman is starring as Vanellope von Schweetz and Jack McBrayer as Fix it Felix Jr. There are many more characters but I just choose the main characters.

This movie is a great thing to watch for everyone. It is not that scary or that creepy so its a good movie for people that are scared of scary and creepy movies. This is a very fun and creative movie that a lot of people will love to watch all the time.

This is a good movie for kids because it will make them know that friendship is strong and it will let them know that even though your friends get a certificate that says ” You Are Great” and if you are also a good person than, you don’t need a certificate or a prize for being good because if your heart knows that you’re good than you should believe in yourself and you would have friends to tell you that.

This movie is one of my favorites because it has a lot of imagination and it’s very creative and fun. It has a great story structure and the story is well told. This is a good movie because the story is telling us that friends are much more important than a gold medal to prove that you are good because if you are thoughtful to your friend than your friend is your gold medal. Lastly, The movie has a lot of variety of colors.

A Movie Review: “Maleficent”

“Maleficent”:A Movie Review

By Katelyn

A beautiful land falls into a cruel reign. Why? This entrancing and fascinating movie is “Maleficent”, a movie that just recently came out this year, 2014. Maleficent, originally a kind fairy, is starred and voiced by Angelina Jolie.

“Maleficent” is a changed version of Disney’s original movie, “Sleeping Beauty.” It is directed by Robert Stromberg, a famous movie director In “Maleficent”, Aurora is played by Elle Fanning, who also narrates the movie. The male lead King Stefan is voiced by Sharlto Copley. The movie used the song “Once Upon a Dream” as the movie’s closing credits song. “Maleficent” has been nominated for five awards and has won one award.

Just in front of this beautiful land also called the Moors, is a kingdom, with a huge towering castle. This kingdom has always wanted to take over the Moors. The Moors themselves are fantastic; the creatures inside are even more magical and something you have never seen before. Unfortunately, this land is protected by a powerful fairy: Maleficent. It all started with a boy wandering into the Moors, stealing some precious gems. Maleficent was called on to stop him, but they gradually liked each other. At the same time, the king of the other kingdom was planning a war on Moors, but they couldn’t beat Maleficent with her trees and fairies. The king was wounded and was about to die. He decided that whoever could kill Maleficent would be crowned the next king.

The song “Once Upon a Dream” was also used in the original Sleeping Beauty movie. The song was originally Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty, but Lana del Rey sang a cover of the song just for the movie “Maleficent.”

This movie would be recommended for teenagers and adults. This movie is also suitable for kids, but they should watch this movie with parents or siblings as it is kind of scary and creepy in the war part. Overall, this movie is very fun and awesome. If you didn’t watch it yet, you should watch it!

Movie Review: Shrek 2

“Shrek 2”

by LiT

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Deep in the forest in a land of fairy tales, lived an ogre named Shrek, voiced by Mike Meyer, and his wife, Fiona, voiced by Cameron Diaz. Despite their ugly orgeness, inside, they are both extremely human.

But unluckily, Fiona’s father, the King Harold, voiced by John Cleese, doesn’t think so.  After their wedding, he invites them to his castle in the kingdom of Far, Far, Away.  Unfortunately, no one had told him or his wife, Queen Lillian, voiced by Julie Andrews, anything about their daughter’s transformation or her new husband.  Though Queen Lillian made the best of it and warmly welcomed Shrek, King Harold was trying to find a way to get rid of his new son-in-law.

Along with King Harold, Queen Lillian, Princess Fiona, and Shrek, there is also the Fairy Godmother, voiced by Jennifer Saunders, her son, Prince Charming, voiced by Rubert Everett, and the ogre killer, Puss in the Boots, voiced by Antonio Banderass.  Determined that her son should marry Fiona, the Fairy Godmother used Harold’s desire for a better husband for his daughter to her advantage and had him carry out orders for her, that will all ensure the marriage of Prince Charming and Princess Fiona. Prince Charming is only too happy for a chance to marry Fiona, and is willing to do all he can.

Shrek 2 is directed by Andrew Adamson, Kelly Asbury, and Conrad Vernon.  It is distributed by Dreamworks and is the second movie in the four movie series of Shrek, which includes, “Shrek”, “Shrek 3”, and “Shrek Forever After”. According to the producers, “Shrek 2” is a lot darker than the original.  Many lines and settings in “Shrek 2” are like those in other movies and places. For example, when Queen Lillian asked where King Harold where he was going, the king replied, “Bit of trouble from the old crusade wound, going to go outside and walk it off,” while holding his knee. This is exactly what John Cleese’s character, Basil Fawlty did and said in the movie, Fawlty Towers.

“Shrek 2” is suitable for kids from 3-12.  Of course, older kids can also watch, though, by that time, they might like other things. With plenty of humor and excitement, “Shrek 2” is a good movie for a family movie night, so if you are ever in the need for a nice adventurous and funny movie, you can try “Shrek 2”!

Movie Review: Brave

“Brave”

By Crystal

Add one princess, a queen and a bunch of bears…. What do you get? No, it isn’t a screaming princess and queen, it’s the movie “Brave!” “Brave” main character is Princess Merida, voiced by Kelly Mcdonalds, who was also starred in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.”

“Brave”, released in 2012, is Pixar’s first feature with a female main character, Merida. Princess Merida is voiced by Kelly Mcdonalds, Queen Elinor is voiced by Emma Thompson, King Fergus is voiced by Billy Connolly, and the witch in the forest is voiced by Julie Walters. It was directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman and is a Walt Disney animation. In the story, Merida is an adventurous character and is a very desperate and brave girl that tries to save her mother from the witches bewitchment.

Merida isn’t your typical princess. Brought up in the Scottish kingdom of DunBroch, Princess Merida would rather shoot her arrows than learn the proper rules of being a future queen. When the realm’s three other clans arrive to present their leaders’ firstborn sons as suitors for the princess, Merida rebels against her mother, Queen Elinor, and runs away to the forest. Following a spirit, Merida encounters a witch who makes a magical cake to “change the queen.” But when the queen eats the magical treat, she changes completely. Princess Merida needs to find a way to reverse the witches magic- fast!

One of the characters are Merida’s three little brothers, Harris, Hubert and Hamish. They are very mischievous, especially when there are sweets. They are  princes of the Scottish royal kingdom where the story takes place. Thier personalities are mischievous, clever, adorable, funny, sweet and prankish. In one scene, the boys help their big sister, Merida, escape from the tapestry room when she got locked in by their father.  Overall, they are very cute and is a very fun character in the film.

Lastly, I recommend this movie to both kids and adults. However, because this movie is scarier than most princess movies, it is recommended for kids under seven to watch it with parents or adults. This movie’s recommended this film because it is more adventurous and carefree. It also tells you that family relationships are very important; it also tells you that your fate is yours. Finally, you’ll think Merida is an adventurous princess: not at all like other Disney princesses. So, if you like princess movies, but also like courageous movies, you should try “Brave!”

“The Lego Movie”

by Jasper

This movie is about a simple construction guy, Emmet in a LEGO world, where everything starts with a normal day… The adventure starts after getting lost with his friends when all of them are planning what to do next after work. He accidentally falls into a pit where every master builder is looking for… He went with a team of specialist minifigures on an adventure to save the world from President Business (Lord Business) from an evil thing which President Business (Lord Business) is using to end the world. This is “THE LEGO MOVIE,” directed by Chris (Christopher) Miller and Phil Lord. Writing credits for Dan Hageman, Kevin Hageman, Phil Lo and Chris (Christopher) Miller. If all these people were not here, there wouldn’t be this awesome movie. If you watched it, you would rate it 5 stars!

This is Emmett. He is a construction guy who’s got a mysterious cap on his back to stop a monstrous thing that can end the world in one day. Over here is Lucy, nicknamed Wild Style. She is a master builder hiding everywhere to get away from Lord Business’s robots. Vitruvius, the oldest master builder, and he  taught Emmet to be

a master builder. President Business, secretly ,he is Lord Business, the most evil of tyrants who oversees a robot militia and attempts to take over the LEGO universe. Good/ Bad Cop, Lord Business’s #1 henchman, whose loyalty is tested when he is forced to turn on his own parents. He has to be loyal to Lord Business or else he will die, thrown out of Lord Business’s top floor of his office.

This movie is all about LEGOs that come to life and destroy the world. It’s very violent in a different way, there won’t be blood and kissing.

“THE LEGO MOVIE” would be recommended to both adults and kids in different ways. The kids can laugh out loud and have a great time while the adults can have some rest when the kids are playing. This movie is loved by a lot of people at all ages because it is hilarious and it is packed with action.  It is awesome because it is about LEGOs . This is why, everyone should watch this movie.
