One-wheeled Touchdown

Unicycle-Football-Taking-The-Internet-By-Storm-Video  By Emily

All football games are played by trying to get a point by running, throwing,  and touching the ground with the  ball trying to get away from big, bulky  armored people, right? Well, not exactly. There is Unicycle Football. Unicycle  Football isn’t just random football, it is football played on a unicycle!

Unicycle football is game of football on a unicycle. So, that mean if you are good a unicycles, you can play, yes? No! Here’s why: Players fall off their unicycle a lot! In this game, the field is decided by the amount of players. Once it is decided, here comes the first action of the game, “Football Joust!” It is played by using a “boxing glove on a stick.” Then, the players will start the game! The players can tackle other players by pushing them off their unicycle, or pulling off their flags.

There is also a league for it, which is based on San Marcos, Texas, and currently consists of nine teams. The league now is in the ninth season. The UFL has almost been around for a decade. Seems like America needs more unicycle sports, other than unicycle hockey and this. People pedaling around on hybrid blade wheels? That’s perfect!

Bicycle motocross, also known as BMX, is an extreme sport. Usually, people think that bicycle is a sport that is relaxing and recreation, if they think that way, they are wrong!

BMX is a sport where you do stunts like flips and turns. Some people could even get hurt in the progress of performing. Also, they could do incredible figures. It’s like you never would know what will come up next during the show.

People who play BMX also need to wear protective gear. Most people would fail at the first few times, but if you never give up, you will also become a master at it and be on TV! They could also get hurt, however, if they continue practicing, they would actually start to enjoy it, progressing very quickly and enjoy it.

Gotta Have Gadgets: Google Glass

Google Glass

By Avalon

Google glass is a type of wearable technology with an optical head display. It was developed by Google with the mission of producing a computer that will be very popular. Google glass displays info in a smartphone-like but hands-free format. Wearers can communicate with the internet using voice commands in every language.

In early 2013, interested potential Glass users were invited to use a Twitter message, with hashtag #IfIHadGlass to qualify as an early user of the product. On May 13, 2014, Google announced a move to a “more open beta”, via it’s Google+ page. But the date of release for “general” users is still unknown.

What can we do with it? Cool features of Google Glass: Just say the word and Google Glass will take a picture or record a video. Google Glass will show you text messages as well as emails you receive and allow you to reply to them via voice commands. You simply need to ask a question and the device will pull the answer from the internet.

Google Glass is important because if it succeeds, it could be the next IPhone. But of course, it’s much smaller!

Hopping on to Wallabies!

By Candace

Have you ever heard of wallabies? Probably, but ever heard of having one for a pet? Wallabies are timid animals that require a lot of open space and diets rich in grass, leaves and some fruits, such as apples. They are great escape artists, and regular privacy fences are no match for them. You need to set a fence at least 1.5 meters tall (they can jump)  They are marsupials, which means they have a built in pouches for carrying their young. Wallabies are social animals, so it’s best to own a pair.

Is owning a wallaby good for you? Wallabies are not your typical pet, even harder to raise than dogs. Wallabies require a lot of space to roam around, so if you have a really huge backyard it would be better. Wallabies also do not house-train easily, and they are nocturnal. Unless YOU are nocturnal, too, it might not be a great idea to get a wallaby.

Wallabies might be seriously inconvenient for many families, but if you love Australian animals, pick the wallaby! Wallabies are cousins of the kangaroos, which means they can jump really high. This is a reason to get a really high fence for your backyard if you want to get one. You can save money on food for your wallaby, though! It’s easy to get food for your wallaby because their diet is mostly fruits and leaves.

In conclusion, wallabies are a great and cute pets.

Peculiar Pets: Fennec Fox

By Katelyn

In most peoples minds, foxes are sly, cunning, and usually the bad guy in cartoons. But unlike the normal foxes, fennec foxes aren’t like that!

Fennec foxes, also called fennecs, is a small nocturnal fox, found in the Sahara of North Africa. Fennec foxes most noticeable trait is its unusually large ears, used for releasing heat. They weigh 2-3.5 pounds, and have a soft, thick, short coat that is white on the belly and reddish or tawny on the back. They also have some black markings on their back and tail. Fennec foxes eats insects, small mammals, and birds. They are about the size of a cat, but their energy and playfulness is the same as a very active dog. Fennec foxes agility and the height they can jump is more like a cat.

Fennec foxes are energetic 15% of the time, snuggly 20% of the time, and rest of the time they are asleep. Fennec foxes DO NOT calm down with age! Most fennec foxes loves to be petted and cuddled, but only when they get to know you. They are generally not afraid of strangers, and is friendly to everyone. Most people say that male fennecs are easier to take care of than female fennecs.

Fennec foxes have a lifespan of 10-16 years, so will be a wonderful choice for a pet, but you will have to coordinate with its barking and never tiring energy!
