We all know what soccer is, right? In case you don’t, soccer is a sport where you try to kick a ball in to a goal.

Blind soccer is almost the same – except you are blindfolded! Now imagine getting blindfolded for a day. Hard, right ? Now, imagine playing soccer while you are blindfolded – even harder.

Blind soccer is played by teams of 5. 4 of them are blindfolded, but the goalkeepers are allowed to see. In blind soccer, there are rattles in the soccer ball so the players can locate where the ball is.

What is the point of playing blind soccer? You must be asking yourself. Playing blind soccer builds sportsmanship, the value of teamwork, and much more. In this game, no player thinks themselves bigger than the game itself.

In conclusion, blind soccer is a great sport, and if you are interested, you should try it!

The Most Improved Player of the Year is Rudy Gay

Rudy Gay is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the most improved player of the year because he came out of nowhere , played very well, and always wants to win. He really improved a lot.                                                                                                                                                  

Coach of the Year

The coach of the year is Gregg Popovich

The NBA announced that the San Antonio Spurs’ inimitable sideline stalker has been named the league’s 2014-15 Coach Of The Year, taking home the Red Auerbach Trophy after piloting his Spurs to a 62-20 record, the best mark in the NBA, and the top seed in one of the more competitive Western Conferences in recent memory. Their coach is Gregg Popovich. He is an American and his position is Head Coach.

Most Defensive Player of the Year

 

The most defensive player of the year is Joakim Noah

Joakim Noah is a professional basketball player for the Chicago Bulls of the NBA. His position is in the center and is number 13. He’s the second Chicago Bull to win the Most Defensive Player. The first Chicago Bull to win the MDP is Michael Jordan. Joakim Noah was one of just three players (Detroit’s Andre Drummond and New Orleans’ Anthony Davis) to average at least 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals. Behind Noah, the Bulls held opponents to a .430 field goal percentage, second-stingiest in the league.

Mike Conley is a professional basketball point guard. He is in Memphis Grizzlies since 2007. He got the Sportsmanship Award because Mike Conley is a hard, competitive guy and plays basketball in a very classy and professional way.

Sabine Lisicki sets new record for the fastest serve

Everybody knows that Venus Williams and Serena Williams has the top 2 fastest serve record but Sabine Lisicki (Germany) has broken it.

Sabine Lisicki broken the record in the first round of Bank of West Classic in Stanford, US. The unreturnable serve was 131 mph ( 210 kph)!! The serve was two mph faster than Venus Williams.

Despite the 6-7, 1-6 defeat to Ana Ivanovic, the world No. 29 still tweeted,” Well at least I broke the world record for fastest serve.”

On the ATP side, Aussie’s favorite Sam Groth holds the record of 163 mph on a challenger tournament.

Strange Sports: Sepak Takraw

 

The Contest of Feet

You normally use hands in a volleyball game, right? In a volleyball game, you try to let the ball drop to your opponent’s side and not on yours. Sepak Takraw, on the other side is basically is the same thing but you don’t use your hands. Instead, you use your feet.

This game is similar to volleyball, but you use a rattan ball(rattan ball needs to be spherical, made of synthetic fiber or one woven layer.) and it only allows you to use your feet, knee, chest, and head to touch the ball. This sport is a popular sport in Southeast Asia. What is the meaning of Sepak Takraw? Sepak means kick Malay while Takraw means woven ball. Together the name literally means kicking a woven ball.  There are lots of ways to play, and two ways to play is called regu and double regu. For regu, you need 3 people on each team. For double regu, you only need 2 people.

There is also international competitions too. International play is governed by ISTAF, which stands for International Sepak Takraw Federation. Most of the competitions for the sport such as the ISTAF Super Series, the ISTAF World Cup and the King’s Cup World Championships are held every year.

Strange Sports: The Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake

 A Cheesy Sport

The Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake is an annual event held on the Spring Bank Holiday at Cooper’s Hill, near Gloucester in England. It is actually for the people who live in the local village of Brockworth, but now, people from all over the world take part of this event.

This ceremony originally took place in Whit Monday before later transferred to the Spring Bank Holiday. After a lot of proposals to the idea for the The Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake, the idea finally came out. These contestants would roll a bundle of cheese down a long hill and see who’s the fastest. Sometimes people get injured so this isn’t a very safe sport for us kids.

   All football games are played by trying to get a point by running, throwing,  and touching the ground with the  ball trying to get away from big, bulky  armored people, right? Well, not exactly. There is Unicycle Football. Unicycle  Football isn’t just random football, it is football played on a unicycle!

    Unicycle football is game of football on a unicycle. So, that mean if you are good a unicycles, you can play, yes? No! Here’s why: Players fall off their unicycle a lot! In this game, the field is decided by the amount of players. Once it is decided, here comes the first action of the game, “Football Joust!” It is played by using a “boxing glove on a stick.” Then, the players will start the game! The players can tackle other players by pushing them off their unicycle, or pulling off their flags.

    There is also a league for it, which is based on San Marcos, Texas, and currently consists of nine teams. The league now is in the ninth season. The UFL has almost been around for a decade. Seems like America needs more unicycle sports, other than unicycle hockey and this. People pedaling around on hybrid blade wheels? That’s perfect!

    Bicycle motocross, also known as BMX, is an extreme sport. Usually, people think that bicycle is a sport that is relaxing and recreation, if they think that way, they are wrong!

    BMX is a sport where you do stunts like flips and turns. Some people could even get hurt in the progress of performing. Also, they could do incredible figures. It’s like you never would know what will come up next during the show.

     People who play BMX also need to wear protective gear. Most people would fail at the first few times, but if you never give up, you will also become a master at it and be on TV! They could also get hurt, however, if they continue practicing, they would actually start to enjoy it, progressing very quickly and enjoy it.
