Should animals be kept in zoos: By Chris and Pierre.

Should animals be kept in captivity in zoos.

Chris Wang

Cons:

Some people never thought how the animals are treated in zoos. This essay will tell people why zoos are not right because humans mistreat the animals, animals will behave differently in captivity, and it is inhumane. That is why zoos are bad.

The first reason why zoos are bad is because zookeepers will invariably mistreat animals. For example zookeepers give them improper diet and lack of exercise. It will cause the animals to become thinner and thinner and die slowly. Another example is that zookeepers do experiments on the animals. After the experiment the animal will become crazy and start to do weird things. Sometimes zoo trainers will abuse the animals if they don’t respect them and do as they are told. The zoo trainers will use their whips or bats to hit the animal. As a result, those are some ways zoo keepers have mistreated the animals.

The second reason is that animals will behave differently in zoos. One example is that the animals will fight in the the cage and cause trouble because they are in too close proximity to each other. In the end, one of the animals will die while in the fight. The second reason is that if they don’t have enough food to eat they will eat each other. They will eat each other because they are too hungry. On the other hand, animals will feel lonely if they are alone in their cages. Usually there are not a lot of animals in the cages and these animals might strike out at anyone or anything near them. Lastly, these are some examples why we should ban zoos.

The last reason is that it is inhumane to animals. The first example is that the animals want to be in the wild not in their cages. All the animals in the zoo belong in the their habitats, in the wild. The next example is that animals have lack of privacy. People will always be watching what the animals are doing such as, taking pictures of them. The last example is that the cages are too small for the animals. Elephants need a lot space because, the elephant is the biggest land animal on the world. Finally, that is why zoos are inhumane.

In conclusion zoos are bad, because zookeepers mistreat them by not giving enough food and exercise, animals will behave differently in captivity, such as attacking each other, and it is inhumane to animals. That is why why zoos are bad. People should ban all zoos on Earth.

Pros:

They should be kept in zoos for educational purposes.

Individual interaction with exotic animals face-to-face allows an experience that promotes wonder to enter our lives. Without the wonder of the encounters that they experience, people will quickly lose interest in safeguarding the few wild places that are left in our world. Exhibits and programs about Earth’s aquatic ecosystems also became important parts of most zoos’ public-education efforts.
